Preparing your Kids for the Newest Addition...
I didn’t think I would be very on top of things when it came to preparing for my third baby. What I have learned from being a Mom of two toddlers is that preparation is not only extremely helpful but it is NECESSARY to your mental survival.Â

Packing my hospital bag for baby number three came pretty naturally to me, but I still felt like I was forgetting something. Then it hit me! Day in and day out I am never just taking care of myself. I already have two little humans who depend on me to get them through life. So I decided to make them ‘big sib hospital bags.’Â
Just to make it fun, I had my kids, Jonah (3 years) and Amelia (2 years), help to pack their own backpacks. This got them even more excited for the new baby to arrive because they know the backpacks don’t get used until he decides to come.
What’s in the Big Sib Bag:
- Coloring books and stickers for visiting at the hospital or to help the grandparents keep them entertained
- Books promoting good big sibling behavior
- Big Brother/Big Sister shirts to wear to the hospital
- Baby gift for new brother they personally picked out
- Favorite on-the-go snackÂ
These bags can of course be tweaked a bit or added to in case the kids need to be dropped off with a sitter when you go into labor. Fingers crossed my little one will stay put until the grandparents fly into town.

Love this! I have mine done already, but I’m totally adding the Big Brother and Big Sister shirts. Love that idea!
