Mama Feature: Jessica

Mama Feature: Jessica

We are thrilled to be sharing Jessica, our very own Marketing Director for Parker Baby Co. as the October Mama Feature! Jessica and her husband Jack live in Parker, CO and are expecting their first sweet baby (a girl, yay!) in December. We are so grateful Jessica is a part of our team and we are excited for everyone to get to know her a little bit more.

Favorites?

Favorite mommy/maternity product:
As my feet have started swelling more I have been living in my LL Bean Moccasins! With baby girl coming in December, they will be a definite staple while home on maternity leave as well. Super soft and cozy, but with a durable sole so you can take out the trash, get the mail, step outside, etc.

Favorite baby product:
I mentioned this in my Must-Haves blog post, and even though I don’t have my own baby quite yet, I am around baby products quite a bit ;)  My absolute favorite product right now is our Hooded Bath Towel. It is seriously so luxurious! Just when I think about the other infant towels in the market - they are super thin and scratchy - and this towel is actually something I cannot wait to snuggle baby girl up in.

pregnancy and baby must-havesFavorite way to have a little “me-time”:
Pre-pregnancy and pre-Covid - I loved going to a good cycle or yoga class. Things have definitely shifted a bit and for now I just like waking up a little bit earlier to give myself a few extra moments to drink a cup of coffee, walk the dogs, and relax before jumping into work. I love the quiet (until baby arrives ;)), light, and peace a slow morning brings.

A couple more questions...

Can you tell us a little about expecting a baby during a pandemic?
It’s definitely been different than how we ever imagined our first pregnancy! My husband has only been allowed to attend our 20 week ultrasound and other than that I've been on my own at each appointment. However, we have had a healthy baby and pregnancy thus far and we are very thankful for that. I think about those mamas hearing bad news or going through tough times alone every time I’m at the OB.

What’s been your go-to for maternity style?
During the summer months I was in t-shirt dresses most days, but I’ve transitioned to oversized band tees and leggings for Fall - I wouldn’t really call it “style” at this point :joy:

What is your inspiration for baby girl’s nursery?
I think I still haven’t fully accepted nor am convinced that we are having a girl...  so we are keeping everything very neutral and leaving the girly details for accents. We live in sort of a woodsy/mountain-y area so we are leaning into that a bit with some preppy/classic details. Now that I am trying to put it into words - it feels a little all over the place haha! We still have a lot of work.

What fun Fall activities are you most looking forward to?
So many! But mostly staying home with Jack and our two dogs, nesting, crossing things off our home-project list, plenty of fires in our dreamy fireplace and probably a lot of Harry Potter movies.

Advice

Please share some words of advice for all the mamas out there.
I don't feel like I am in any position to give advice! BUT I feel like I’ve had many life lessons in that your experience is 100% your own. No one relationship, pregnancy, birth story, or family looks the same and that is OK - actually beautiful. It can feel like everyone wants to tell you what marriage, pregnancy, or parent experience is going to be like, but things just don’t go the same way for everyone and you are in control of your own story.

Awh so exciting, I love this! I can totally relate to Jessica as I’m also due in December with our first baby and it has been such a different experience than I would have imagined for our first pregnancy! Definitely lots of positives along with the few negatives, so just enjoying the journey and it will be so fun to look back at this time once baby is here! All the best to you, Jessica, and congratulations! :)
